Help Message from the Fund Manager

Big City Mountaineers offers a nationally unique program design of 5-adult-to-5-teen, single gender programs exclusively created for youth from lower socio-economic backgrounds, guided by a 20-year curriculum shown to have a scientifically validated impact on participants, offered in collaboration with youth development agencies. This programming is centered on an extended summer trip, preceded by single-day outings to allow self-selection, followed by the option of continuing relationships with adults met during our summer program, and culminating with employment opportunities within our organization.

Big City Mountaineers’ intentional and curriculum-based program has been honed by 20 years of delivery with input by industry-leading outdoor recreation organizations and nationally-recognized youth development leaders, and enhanced by yearly program feedback.

Our organization is a proud member of Community Shares of Colorado.  Giving Circles enable nonprofits to extend their outreach and organize allies to serve the community. Through social media and active conversation we hope that with your help we can affect positive change.

Help Giving Goals
Big City Mountaineers' Giving Goal is to gain 100 allies in 2009, raising $5,000 to support traditional youth development goals through transformative outdoor experiences in Colorado.

Welcoming Member Agencies to My Colorado

After more than two years of development, we are ready to launch the beta version of My Colorado Project. We are pleased with how far we've come and looking forward to Phase 2 and 3 development to enhance the site's user experience. In the meantime, a key factor of the user experience is the input of our member agencies.
